In recent years, storms have become more dominant across Sydney and even other parts of Australia.

And before we head into winter action, many insurance companies are advising to storm-proof your home to protect it from costly damage.

Here are five tips on doing this.

Check your gutters, pipes and plumbing

Keep your downpipes and gutters clear because blockages can cause water to overflow and damage parts of your home.

Get a Sydney plumber to fix any leaks and blockages.

Take out leaves and debris from the valleys of your roof to avoid over clogging the gutters during heavy rain.
