They can’t provide a plumbing licence

The most basic check to do is to see if your Sydney plumber has licence with NSW Fair Trading. So if they don’t, it’s a big red no-no!

They can’t provide an exact plumbing quote

How the plumber wants to bill you may be a deal maker or breaker.

Always ask the Sydney plumber about their billing process from the start. Check for the following red flags:

- Claims there is no “service fee.” This can lead to overcharging

- Plumbing parts appear bloated significantly

- Insists on upfront cash payment
- Does not provide written quote or guarantee. This is even more alarming if the project is big

- Cannot provide the exact scope of the work for the price they ask.

They don’t have public liability insurance

Plumbing is a risky business and the job may go wrong. You may encounter anything from burst pipes or very simply, the plumber (or you or others) being injured during the job.

If the plumber does not have the right insurances in place, the costly bill may fall on you.
